L’Alimentation : between grocery store and cellar

Behind the Gaumont cinema and since December 2015, is this super restaurant with an area of 400 m2, running on two levels and built in a modern structure with industrial decor made warm thanks to the touch of wood in the furniture. A restaurant with many universes: here, everyone decides on his evening: either we nibble at the bar, or sit at the table for a gastronomic discovery.

The menu is on the placemats with benchmarks for the servers so they do not plant in the eternal “knife on the right and fork on the left”. Special mention for originality. It sounds stupid but finally it’s always smile, economic and totally consistent with the rest of the concept.

As they say you can eat by weight, you can nibble … but one thing is certain you will enjoy. The portions are huge. The quality of the products is excellent. Very reasonable prices.

Here you can taste everything that can exist in meat by weight! HAPPINESS! Entrecote, bib, tartar, filet, chopped, prime rib, duck breast, andouillettes, kidneys …

The choice of snacking is vast: mussels, shrimps, vegetable skewers, scallop carpaccio, homemade fries, pork dumplings, truffle scramble, risotto, octopus, veal rice, shellfish, truffled white ham, foie gras, cheese …

I’m still drooling! There are also salads meals, casseroles, burgers, pasta and fish of the moment, a party rotisseries … you are obliged to find your happiness in this universe of the Toulouse hustle and bustle. If you really are so complicated, and if you do not find your treat on the map, go to the grocery store find the little jars that will spoil you and tease you on a slice of bread from the master baker Toulouse: Cadenet.

The pastries come from Sandyan, the pastry of Yannick Delpech. KILLING! Lemon meringue pie, chocolate tart, caramel, passion, hazelnut … ..

In short, an establishment like no other, half cellar to eat and foodstore, in which Christophe Baron and his partner Romain Pecqueret liked to break the codes. “Food is not yet another tapas place, open late at night,” says Christophe Baron. This is a new concept that I discovered during my travels where everything that is consumed on the spot can also be bought. A way to hide the quality of our products. The meat is for example always served without accompaniment to allow the customer to be able to choose what he prefers “. He adds: “Food is a lively and participative space where the customer can see his dishes prepared live.”

From the entrance, the cellar part reveals a large wall where liquors, champagnes and wines compete for space. Bottles on sale that can also be consumed on site. A sommelier is present to advise the client. It offers a wide range of wines at cellar prices and discover unexpected wines.

Second universe: the grocery corner with a wide choice of delicatessen products, with some tables where you can eat at the counter or in front of the kitchen.

At the bottom, a glazed cold room makes it possible to choose its piece of meat by weight. Same for the cheese.

At the 1st level, a large dining room, family kitchen version, welcomes the client where sits a beautiful wooden pantry, recovered in a monastery by the decorator Pascal Richard.

Hat, Food has it all! Energetic, dynamic and effective!
